How we display products and offers to buyers
How we merge categories where you list your offers
When we have merged categories with the same items, we have created one category in which you can list your offers. They are still visible to buyers in several categories.
While listing your offer, you have dozens of categories to choose from in the listing form.
We want the category setup to be intuitive, clear and easy to use — so that the buyers can easily navigate through it, and the sellers can quickly find the category which fits their products best. That is why we have merged categories with the same assortment in the listing form.
How it works
In the listing form, you can see the category which was created by merging several categories with the same items. For buyers — nothing changes. They can still see all categories on Allegro.
That means:
- you need to select only one category while listing an offer
- buyers will see your offer in multiple categories.
What you gain with the category merge
- You save time — as you can find the category that fits your item best faster.
- Linking your offers to the Allegro Product Catalog gets easier — you do not need to wonder to which category your product belongs better.
- If you promote your offers, buyers will see them on the promoted offers list in each of the current categories.
What the product list is
The product list gives you fast and easy access to all the offers with the same product. See what the product page looks like.
There are more than 260 million offers on Allegro. Every minute, 38,000 queries about specific products appear. We are creating the Allegro Product Catalog to help customers navigate a wide range of products. With the Catalog, we organize the website navigation in multiple areas — from offer listing and sales management to how customers browse, search for, and compare offers.
What the product list is
On the product list, we display products for which we group available offers. To display the product list, go to the search results or the category page and click [combine the same offers]. First, we display the Allegro Ads sponsored offers. Then, in the section with Promoted products, we display products with offers that:
- have the promotion option enabled and
- are Top offers — the offers representing a product.
What makes the product list stand out
- We display products (except the first two positions with sponsored offers.)
- If there are many offers with the same product — we display the product only once. If the buyer decides to buy the exact product, they can open the list of all the offers with that product.
- We display each product's name and image from our Allegro Product Catalog.
- We display selected parameters for each product.
On the product list, you can find the product of your interest first and later select a specific offer. You can filter products by the available parameters, for example, length, capacity, or the number of units. In selected categories, you will also find information about color variants of the product you are searching for.
The product list is short and transparent. Thanks to that, your customers can more quickly find the product they are searching for. As a seller, you do not need to worry about adding the proper offer title, high-quality images, or product parameters — those details are taken from the Allegro Product Catalog.
What you can find on the product page
We display the product page if the offer is linked to the Allegro Product Catalog. In other cases, we display the offer page.
We divided the product page into two columns:
- in the left column, we display the offer title and information about the product's condition
- in the right column, we display information about the seller and sales policy, for example:
- price
- estimated delivery time
- Coins
- Smart! dispatch
- Allegro Pay
- availability of installments.
The product name is visible in the Other offers of product section.
How we group offers with the same product
Grouping offers with the same product makes it easier for buyers to find exactly what they are looking for and easily compare all the offers.
In the Allegro Product Catalog, we keep gathering and describing all products available in offers listed by you and other sellers.
We catalog products that differ in properties — such as model, manufacturer's code, GTIN (EAN), or other basic parameters.
This way, buyers can:
- move smoothly between pages of offers with the same product
- check other buyers' reviews of a given product
- search for offers based on parameters — we will complete them automatically when you link your offers to a product.
In the product list, we can also display offers not linked to any product. We arrange the products and offers according to how they are currently sorted — which means that they will be mixed in the list.
When the buyer clicks [compare X offers] in the product list, we will show them the list of all available offers with that product and all its variants.
The buyer will see:
- product name, rating, and number of offers — they can also add the product to their Favorite searches. When they do this, we will send them notifications about new offers linked to that product.
- the list of offers where they can buy the previously chosen product. The highlighted offer at the top of the list is the Top offer — representing the product. See how we select it.
When the buyer types any phrase in the search bar, we suggest 3 products matching that phrase at the bottom of the list of results. We show product suggestions with images. If the buyer clicks the suggestion, we take them to the list of offers with that product.
We display the offer title over the image and description — it is the title you provide. We also display information about the product's condition — for example, new or used. Additionally, we display the Other offers of product section with the name of the product in our Catalog.
How product relevance works and what a Top offer is
Learn in what order we display products and offers on the product lists on Allegro.
Product relevance is a default sorting of product lists.
In the case of sorting by relevance, we try to adjust the order of products on the list as well as possible to the queries buyers enter in the search engine. This means that buyers may see a different order of offers on the list for two very similar queries for a product — for example, iPhone 11 and iPhone.
When sorting by relevance, we take into account the following information about the product:
- how well the product matches the query the buyer has entered into the search engine — we check it in 2 ways:
- we check whether the titles of offers with a given product match the query the buyer has entered into the search engine. For example, if the buyer has entered dress into the search engine, we will display products whose name contains the word dress.
- we check not only whether the words the buyer has entered into the search engine appear in the product name, but we also check their meaning. For example, if the buyer enters the phrase house slippers into the search engine, we will also display house shoes.
- product ratings and their number
- how many times we have displayed a given product to the buyers
- how many times buyers clicked that product
- how many times a given product was added to the cart within different periods
- how many times it was added to Favorites
- how often customers bought that product
- the average product price
- whether the Top offer of a given product is promoted.
When sorting by product relevance, we also consider the same criteria we use to select the Top offer.
We divide the product list into two sections:
- with products whose Top offers are promoted
- with products whose Top offers are not promoted.
We sort each of those sections separately.
On the product list, we also display the Allegro Ads sponsored offers. Their exact number and placement are dynamic and depend on the number of available Sponsored Offers and their quality.
On the product list, we also display grouped offers from Allegro Lokalnie.
How we select the Top offer
For each product on the list, our algorithm selects the Top offer — the offer representative of the product. Such an offer is favorable for most buyers, and you can expect increased sales in it.
When selecting the Top offer, we account for many different factors we can divide into several main groups:
- the price and delivery cost — the lower, the better. The Best Price Guarantee badge additionally increases the chances of becoming the Top offer.
- offer promotion — promoted offers are prioritized in the selection of the Top Offer
- offer quality:
- product condition — offers with new products have higher chances of becoming the Top offer
- sales format — offers with the Buy now option have higher chances of becoming the Top offer
- whether the thumbnail meets our requirements
- whether the offer's obligatory parameters are completed
- sales quality
- estimated delivery time — offers with faster estimated delivery time have higher chances of becoming the Top offer.
Offer relevance
Apart from product lists, buyers can also find on Allegro lists with offers from specific sellers, for example, the list of all the offers with a given product.
On such lists, we display — and sort — offers. Offer relevance is the default sorting option for the lists of offers.
When sorting offers by relevance, we consider the same factors as when selecting the Top offer. That means the higher your offer is displayed on the list, the higher its chances of becoming the top offer.
On the list of offers with a given product, we display a section with promoted offers and a section without them. We sort offers in each of those sections separately.
