What a Top offer is
A Top offer is an offer with a special badge on the product list. Thanks to the badge, more customers may notice it. Check what you can do to make your offer represent the product. Learn in what order we display products and offers on the product lists.
How we select the Top offer
Each product from the Allegro Product Catalog has a representative — the Top offer selected by our algorithm. Such an offer is attractive for most buyers, and we make it stand out on the product list with a special Top offer badge. It means that sales in your offer may increase if it is the one that represents the product.
When selecting the Top offer, we account for multiple factors divided into several equivalent groups — such as:
- the price and delivery cost — the lower, the better. The Best Price Guarantee badge additionally increases the chances of becoming the Top offer.
- offer promotion — promoted offers are prioritized in the selection of the Top Offer
- offer quality:
- product condition — offers with new products have higher chances of becoming the Top offer
- sales format — offers with the Buy now option have higher chances of becoming the Top offer
- whether the first image in the offer meets our requirements
- whether the offer's obligatory parameters are completed
- sales quality
- estimated delivery time — offers with faster estimated delivery time have higher chances of becoming the Top offer.
Top offer in Allegro Analytics
If you have an active Subscription, you can use the report in Allegro Analytics — Factors influencing the selection of a Top offer. It contains various information, including:
- the number of your offers with a chance for Top offer
- your total sales and your sales in offers with a chance for Top offer
- how your offers compare to the Top offers of given products.
If specific factors of your offer are as good as or better than the product's Top offer — we will mark them with a green icon as appropriate. If a specific factor performs worse — we will mark it with a yellow icon as needs improvement. This report will show you which parts of your offers are better than the competition and what you could improve. We update the report data a few times a day.
If you do not see your offer in the report, that means there are currently no other offers we could compare your offer with.
Frequently asked questions about Top offer
How to maintain competitive prices to increase my chances for Top offer?
You can use the Automatic Pricing tool to set pricing rules. This allows you to manage the offer price in all marketplaces automatically. The Top offer pricing rule will help you adjust your price to the price of a given product's Top offer. You can add the rule to your offers if you have a business account. This way, you will increase your offer's chance to become a product representative. See how it works.
My offer is the cheapest, yet it is still not the Top Offer. Why?
Price is not the only factor. The algorithm takes into account many equivalent factors, such as: your sales quality, delivery time, offer quality (images and parameters), or promotion. Whether or not your offer will become a product representative depends on finding the optimal balance of these factors.
For example, if another offer has a significantly shorter delivery time and higher quality, it may be considered more attractive for buyers, even if its price is slightly higher. In the Factors affecting the selection of the Top Offer report in Allegro Analytics, you can check which of your factors (for example, delivery time or image quality) are marked as needs improvement.
Does the Top Offer favor only the largest sellers?
The algorithm evaluates the attractiveness of a specific offer for the buyer at any given moment, not the seller's turnover. Each seller, even with a small business, has a chance for a Top offer if they focus on the following factors: high service quality, precise product parameters, and competitive shipping terms.
How do I know exactly what I need to improve for my offer to become the product representative?
You do not need to guess. The most accurate source of information is the report in Allegro Analytics: Sale of offers with the Top offer badge. You will find a detailed analysis of your offer there. For example, if your price is too high or the delivery time is too long compared to the current product representative, you can easily check what needs to be improved to increase your chances.
Why did my offer stop representing the product after a few hours?
The Top offer status is not granted permanently. Data is analyzed in real time to ensure it always reflects current market conditions and changes in competitors' offers. Any change in price, delivery time, or new ratings — earned by you or other sellers — can affect who offers the best value to the customer at any given moment.
Product relevance
Product relevance is a default sorting of product lists.
In the case of sorting by relevance, we try to adjust the order of products on the list as well as possible to the queries buyers enter in the search engine. This means that buyers may see a different order of offers on the list for two very similar queries for a product — for example, iPhone 11 and iPhone.
When sorting by relevance, we take into account the following information about the product:
- how well the product matches the query the buyer has entered into the search engine — we check it in 2 ways:
- we check whether the titles of offers with a given product match the query the buyer has entered into the search engine. For example, if the buyer has entered dress into the search engine, we will display products whose name contains the word dress.
- we check not only whether the words the buyer has entered into the search engine appear in the product name, but we also check their meaning. For example, if the buyer enters the phrase house slippers into the search engine, we will also display house shoes.
- product ratings and their number
- how many times we have displayed a given product to the buyers
- how many times buyers clicked that product
- how many times a given product was added to the cart within different periods
- how many times it was added to Favorites
- how often customers bought that product
- the average product price
- whether the Top offer of a given product is promoted.
When sorting by product relevance, we also consider the same criteria we use to select the Top offer.
We divide the product list (except the list sorted by relevance) into two sections:
- with products whose Top offers are promoted
- with products whose Top offers are not promoted.
We sort each of those sections separately.
On the product list, we also display the Allegro Ads sponsored offers. Their exact number and placement are dynamic and depend on the number of available Sponsored Offers and their quality.
On the product list, we also display grouped offers from Allegro Lokalnie.
Offer relevance
Apart from product lists, buyers can also find on Allegro lists with offers from specific sellers, for example, the list of all the offers with a given product.
On such lists, we display — and sort — offers. Offer relevance is the default sorting option for the lists of offers.
When sorting offers by relevance, we consider the same factors as when selecting the Top offer. That means the higher your offer is displayed on the list, the higher its chances of becoming the top offer.
When sorting by relevance, we consider whether the product is promoted. However, we do not display the promoted products in a separate section.
