Split payment
Split payment is a payment method available for entrepreneurs. Using it is voluntary and only possible by bank transfer.
What split payment is
Split payment is a payment method available only to entrepreneurs. With split payment, the VAT amount is transferred to a separate bank sub-account of the recipient. This way, the state can ensure greater stability of VAT income to the treasury. Split payment is voluntary. It applies only to the transfers between businesses (does not concern payments from consumers).
How to pay for Allegro services with the split payment
You can pay the sales commission and other fees, as determined in the invoice. To do it, choose this payment method in your bank's transaction service and transfer the money to your sub-account. Find all the transfer information in the Settlements with Allegro tab. To see them, click [pay].
Next, select płatność podzielona (split payment).
Split payment is possible only if you pay by a bank transfer. Payment service providers do not support this payment method.
Frequently asked questions
You need to do it when:
- both the seller and the buyer are VAT payers
- the purchased item is from one of the categories stipulated in the Appendix no. 15 to the Act on Goods and Services Tax (available only in Polish), or
- the invoice amount is or exceeds 15,000 PLN gross.
If the total order value from one seller is or exceeds 15,000 PLN, the buyer (regardless of whether they buy from a regular or a business account) will see the Split payment next to other available payment options.
They will also see this option when they make a purchase from more than one seller, and the total value of orders from only some of the sellers is or exceeds 15,000 PLN.
You always receive information about the payment method chosen by the buyer in the email notifying about the sale. You can also find this information in the Orders tab, next to a given sale. If the buyer chooses the split payment, remember to issue an invoice or send the necessary information for the buyer to make the transfer (including the gross amount and the VAT amount).
If the buyer decides to pay with the split payment, issue an invoice for that purchase or send the buyer information necessary to make a transfer (including the gross amount and the VAT amount).
The buyer cannot pay with the split payment through Allegro Finance. Instead, the buyer transfers the funds according to the instructions you send them. It means we will not automatically update the payment status in Allegro Finance. However, you can change order status in the Orders tab manually.
Remember that regardless of the buyer’s decision, you need to evaluate whether your invoice is subject to split payment. Your obligations as the seller are stipulated in the Act of August 9, 2019, amending the Act on Goods and Services Tax and certain other acts (available only in Polish), especially art. 106e of the amended Act on Goods and Services Tax.
We have updated the data which are returned by two Allegro API resources to handle the orders. Now, in the resources:
- GET /order/checkout-forms (downloading orders list)
- GET /order/checkout-forms/{id} (downloading order details), for orders in which the buyer chooses the split payment, the new value ("SPLIT_PAYMENT") of the field “payment.type” will be available.
For further information about split payment and the Polish tax law, contact a tax advisor or check the website of the Polish Ministry of Finance.
