Charging sales fees
Retail tax in Hungary
If you dispatch to Hungary, we pay your retail tax that is mandatory in this country.
If you dispatch to Hungary, from January 1, 2025, you do not have to pay the tax on sales on Allegro — we do it for you.
The report with a summary of your sales to Hungary, on which we have paid taxes to the Hungarian tax office as Allegro, is available in the Finance Center. We will share the report with you if you have at least one transaction with dispatch to Hungary. You can access it for 3 months from the date we shared it.
Local surcharge on retail sales on allegro.hu
We are obliged to collect the surcharge in accordance with Hungarian law. We do not make any profit from it. We charge the surcharge to cover the tax that we transfer to the relevant authorities without any margin.
In Hungary, sales made by companies, including foreign ones, operating on the Hungarian market through online platforms — like Allegro — are subject to additional retail sales tax. The online platforms are responsible for collecting it.
That is why we charge a surcharge once you make a sale on allegro.hu. The surcharge rate is 3.6% net (4.43% gross) of the product price and cost of delivery selected by the buyer.
Where you can find information about the surcharge
You can find it:
- in the Settlements with Allegro tab — we display it in the Operations History section under the name Local retail surcharge
- in the Fee summary tab — by clicking Hungary — allegro.hu.
What if the buyer returns the order
If the buyer cancels the order or withdraws from the agreement, we will refund the surcharge as a transaction rebate — for each product separately.
We will add the refund of this fee to the remaining transaction rebates (sales commission refunds). You will not see it as a separate item in the Settlements with Allegro tab.
How to avoid reducing your margin due to the surcharge
In the Automatic Pricing tab, you can set a rule that will include the surcharge in your prices on allegro.hu.
However, if you do not want to sell on allegro.hu anymore you can disable:
- the delivery options to Hungary in your shipping price lists
- the visibility of your offers on allegro.hu in the My Assortment tab.
