Multi-variant offers – how to link offers and edit variants
You can combine offers (for example, the same product in different sizes) into a multi-variant offer. In this article you will learn how to do it, what variants are, and how to edit them.
Only in Polish
You can set and browse multi-variant offers only if you set Polish as your language in the account settings. If you set a language different than Polish as your language in the account settings — we display to you product variants.
The multi-variant offer
A multi-variant offer (offer variant) is a set of linked offers with different variants of the same product. Usually, variants of the same products differ by color, size, or weight.
Parameters specific for a given category serve to link offers into a multi-variant offer (offer variant). For example, in the Obuwie (shoes) category, Rozmiar (size) may be such a parameter, in the Wody toaletowe (Eau de toilette) category – Pojemność opakowania (volume), and in the Rowery (bicycles) category – Rozmiar ramy (frame size).
Parameters, or characteristics of your product
If you list offers on Allegro, you need to provide parameters, or features of your product. Thanks to them, buyers are able to distinguish different products from variants of the same product.
How to use parameters in multi-variant offers
If you list an item in the Obuwie (shoes) category, you can create variants in regards to such parameters as Rozmiar (size) and Kolor/Wzór (color/pattern).
Other parameters, such as Marka (brand) or Zapięcie (closure) need to have the same value in all the variants to create a multi-variant offer (offer variant) correctly. For example, the New Balance shoes are not a variant of the Nike shoes, and lace-up shoes are not a variant of slip-on shoes – those are different products, so you cannot link them into a multi-variant offer.
Benefits of using multi-variant offers
Customers eagerly browse multi-variant offers (offer variants), because they make finding the product they want easier. As a result, using multi-variant offers improves your chances of selling a product.
Product variants
In some offers in selected categories, we display to buyers product variants instead of offer variants. Learn more.
How the offer is shown in the offer lists in categories
On the offer lists, a multi-variant offer (offer variant) is always highlighted by the “dostępne warianty” (other variants available) label.
In order to provide transparency and better visibility of multi-variant offers (offer variants), we use “collapsing” – a more compact and orderly view.
What the collapsing of multi-variant offers (offer variants) is and how it works
Collapsing of multi-variant offers (offer variants) is a way of displaying offers on offer lists. Offers being a part of a multi-variant offer are grouped together into one offer on an offer list. The way they are grouped together depends on:
- Rozmiar (size) parameter – they are displayed as one position on the list
- Rozmiar (size) and Kolor/Wzór (color/pattern) parameters – for example, the color red, sizes S, M, L, are displayed as one position; the color green, sizes S, M, L – as another position
- differences visible only on thumbnails presenting different colors – we will not change anything.
Example
A multi-variant offer (offer variant) is composed of offers of shoes in different sizes and colors. The offers will collapse so that all the available shoe colors will be visible on the offer list. Therefore, all the sizes of silver shoes will be displayed as one position on the list, while all the sizes of the same shoes in the color gold will be displayed as another position.
In the case of collapsed multi-variant offers (offer variants), the offer that is displayed as the main one is the one that is best suited to:
- the buyer’s search query – according to the phrase entered into search engine, filters, and sorting
- the category that the buyer is viewing, such as Obuwie (shoes)
Currently, we do not collapse:
- terminated offers
- offers in the search results, when the buyer is looking for a specific phrase in offer descriptions.
How the multi-variant offer (offer variant) is displayed in the offer description
All available product variants are visible in the offer. The buyer sees all the parameters with variants that you choose during linking offers.
Example
The seller offers different colors and sizes of the same shoes, so the buyer sees different colors and size variants in the offer, as shown below.
In order to avoid incorrect offer linking, remember a few tips you will find below. This is what you should pay attention to while linking the offers in order to do it correctly.
- Offers need to present a product of the same intended use and brand. That is why you should link only variants of the same product.
- Link the offers of variants of the same product. For example, the same perfumes of different bottle volumes, the same bracelets of different chain lengths, the same trousers of different colors and sizes.
- Use the same thumbnail for offer variants differing only by size. Thumbnails are identical if they have the same resolution, file format and watermark. Do not compress the thumbnail again – use the same file to create a thumbnail in all variants of the same offer. If you list an item through the wystaw podobną (list similar item) option, you do not need to upload the new thumbnail, as it is imported automatically.
- We will group offers into color variants (according to color/pattern parameter), after you choose the second parameter.
- Newly listed offers that you want to link together will appear in the variants editor tool within a few minutes.
- You are not able to create multi-variant offers in classifieds categories.
- You can link up to 500 offers into a multi-variant offer (offer variant).
- You can use multi-variant offers in REST API. Learn more.
- You are not able to link identical offers into a multi-variant offer – these offers need to be unique. A cloned offer is an offer which:
- is listed by the same seller
- is listed in the same category
- has the same parameters (including EAN)
- has the same thumbnail.
To link offers, go to the variant editor tool:
- Click [dodaj] (add).
- Find the offers you want to link.
- Select the offers you want to link and click [wybierz parametry] (select parameters).
- Decide which parameters you will use to combine offers. You can combine offers using up to 2 parameters. Additionally, if you want, you can give your own names to your multi-variant offers. Only you will see that name — it will not affect the offer title.
- Click [zapisz] (save).
In the Wielowariantowość (Variants editor) tab, you will find a list of your existing multi-variant offers (offer variants). From this list, you can:
- search for linked offers by entering the name of the multi-variant offer (offer variant) or the offer number
- edit multi-variant offers (offer variants)
- unlink offers from a multi-variant offer.
How to edit a multi-variant offer (offer variant)
If you want to edit multi-variant offers, click [edytuj] (edit).
Editing allows you to add units and change parameters by which multi-variant offers (offer variants) are grouped.
We will link different variants of the same product into multi-variant offers for you in: Moda (Fashion) category, clothing and shoes subcategories outside the Moda (Fashion) category, Biżuteria i zegarki (Jewellery and watches) category. You will find a full list of categories where we automatically link offers into multi-variant offers in Allegro Terms and Conditions.
We automatically link new and edited offers on a regular basis.
How we link offers
We automatically link offers which are variants of the same product and have the same thumbnail, but differ by the Rozmiar (Size) parameter, for example, Długość (Length) in the Łańcuszki (Chains) subcategory.
Thumbnails must be identical for all different size variants: they must have identical resolution, file format and watermark. Do not compress the file repeatedly. The best way to ensure that thumbnails are identical is to upload the same thumbnail file. If you list an item through the wystaw podobną (List similar item) option, you do not need to change the thumbnail, as it is imported automatically.
Below you will find a sample view in the variants editor tool
when you link offers with the same thumbnail:
when you link offers with different thumbnails (from different files, with different resolution or watermarks):
An example of automatic offer linking into a multi-variant offer (offer variant)
Automatic offer linking in the Obuwie (shoes) category.
The seller lists many offers of the same sneakers model in different colors and sizes. We will link all of the offers of white sneakers in sizes 36, 37, 38 and 39 into one multi-variant offer (offer variant). Meanwhile, we will link all of the offers of red sneakers in sizes 36, 37, 38 and 39 into another multi-variant offer (offer variant). The process applies to all the colors and patterns.
In the Variants editor tab, you can combine offers linked automatically with the Kolor/Wzór (Color/Pattern) parameter.
How to check which offers were automatically linked
You can check that in the Wielowariantowość (Variants editor) tab. On the list of your multi-variant offers, you will see which offers we have linked for you – such offers have the Oferta połączona automatycznie (Offer linked automatically) label under its title.
In order to link these offers by the Kolor/Wzór (Color/Pattern) parameter, check the box next to the selected offers and click [Połącz] (Link) on the bar at the bottom of the page.
After selecting a multi-variant offer which you want to link to another offer by the Kolor/Wzór (Color/Pattern) parameter, you will see only those offers that you can link to a given multi-variant offer. You will not see offers which you cannot link to a given multi-variant offer.
You can filter offers by the way they are linked. The wszystkie (all) value is set by default, but you can change it to automatycznie (automatically) or ręcznie (manually).
Yes, you can create and manage multi-variant offers (offer variants) through the Allegro API.
What product variants are
Product variants are different versions of the same product. Usually, they differ by color, size, or weight.
We create them automatically based on the Allegro Product Catalog. With that, we automatically combine all variants of a given product available on Allegro and display them in offers.
Which offers we display product variants in
We display them in certain offers in selected categories. We do that only in offers with products for which we have product variants in our Allegro Product Catalog.
We replace offer variants with product variants in some offers in those categories. That means in those categories, we showcase the variants of products in all offers ― provided we have them in the Catalog. If you list multi-variant offers in those categories, we also replace them with product variants.
What if you list offers in a category where we display product variants
- If other sellers have a product variant you lack — we may display it in your offer.
- If you sell a product variant other sellers lack — we may display it in their offers. The more variants of a given product you have, the more likely we are to display them in the offers of other sellers.
- Featuring offers will work as usual — your featured offer will be high up on the list of offers. When buyers open it, they will also see product variants from other sellers — if they offer a product variant you do not sell.
How buyers see product variants
- Buyers see all available product variants on your offer page. If you do not have them in your assortment, we display other sellers' variants in your offer.
- When the buyer switches from your offer to the product variant offered by another seller, we display the following message: The seller and the offer terms have changed for the selected variant.
- Buyers can decide whether they want to see other sellers' product variants in your offers. We will display the Show variants from other sellers option above product variants in the offer. Once they disable it, they will see only your products.
How we combine variants
If a given product is available in several size variants, we show one variant for each color in selected categories on the product list. It includes all available sizes of this product. We do not display a single Size parameter value, but a range of sizes. We display all available product variants when the buyer clicks [compare X offers]. Then, we show the list of all offers linked to this product, in all sizes.
Example
You sell shoes of a popular brand in several sizes and the following colors: black, white, and red. On the product list, we display the color variants of this product — black, white, and red — separately. We provide the range of sizes: 36–41. The buyer clicks [compare 70 offers] next to the selected color variant and sees all offers with shoes available in sizes from this range.
We also show information about variants — different versions of the same product — on the list of offers linked to the selected product. The buyer will see:
- parameters specific to the given product — such as Brand or Color
images of the product variants from the Allegro Product Catalog.
The buyer can use the filters above the list of offers and, for example, select the size they are searching for. If the field is grayed out, no seller has this variant in their assortment at the moment.
When we display product variants on the list of offers with a given product
We display the section with available product variants on condition that we have these variants in the Allegro Product Catalog.
How you can improve your product variants
If you notice that the displayed variants are incomplete or incorrect, link your offers in the Multi-Variant Offers tab. Let us know if you do not see any changes after 24 hours. Fill in the template below and indicate which offers we should group into a variant.

Frequently asked questions
Product variants are different versions of the same product (for example, color-wise) that we have automatically linked to each other in the Allegro Product Catalog. Thanks to the product variants, buyers can see all the variants of a given product and not only the ones linked by the seller.
Product variants can differ depending on the category — we create them based on the specific parameters that describe the features of the assortment sold in that category. Example: different colors of the same mobile model or different sizes of the same shoe may be the product variants.
On the product page, we display all the variants of a given product — also those offered by other sellers. We want buyers to find on Allegro exactly what they are searching for, in every version available.
If you offer all the variants of a given product, we will not display other sellers' offers in your offer — we will display only your variants. We may only display other sellers' offers if you lack a given variant of the product — in that case, we will display the missing variant from another seller.
You cannot link the offer to the product variant yourself. We create product variants automatically based on the Allegro Product Catalog. That is why, we also present the variants from other sellers on the product page. That means your offer does not match the variant according to our criteria.
If you want us to present your offers as product variants, you need to:
- link your offers to the Allegro Product Catalog
- make sure the products in your assortment remain available.
We do not change anything in that regard. You will pay for the services according to the applicable Featured offers and Deal Zone price lists.
No. Unlike offer variants, product variants concern particular products — we create them automatically based on the Allegro Product Catalog. If you sell all the variants of a given product, we will display them, provided that you list them on the same account. Otherwise, we will select an offer representing the product, based on the criteria you can read about here. That is why we may select your offer from another account.
We select an offer representing a given product based on the criteria you can read about here.
If the buyer first displays the offer of seller A and then goes to seller B by clicking the variant tiles — they will still see the initial variant arrangement, as it was in seller A's offer. We will also display the variant from seller A — so the buyer can return to it.
Additionally, when the buyer checks the variant tiles, the offers in the tiles will not change. Check the example of a buyer who displays seller A's offer — a white iPhone. That seller has no other variants. Then, the buyer clicks the tile with the black iPhone and we display the offer from seller B. In the variant tiles, we still show the white iPhone from seller A so the buyer can go back to it (we do not change the initial tile arrangement).
That depends on the category. We create the definition of a variant group based on the parameters/images in a selected category. These parameters may differ from the identifying ones (they may coincide 100%, partially, or not at all).
If you want us to present your offers as product variants, you also need to:
- link your offers to the Allegro Product Catalog (to the product that describes them best),
- make sure the products in your assortment remain available.
It will not affect them directly. In the case of the offer popularity — it will not change. We will still use the popularity on the list of offers.
When it comes to the offer variants' popularity and its summing up on the list of offers — the popularity will still be summed up. We do not sum up the product popularity within the same product group — we base it on particular products.
We do not remove offer variants. In specific categories, we will hide them on the product pages, because in some of the categories:
product variants will replace offer variants. We will display product variants in all the offers in which it is possible. If a seller has multi-variant offers in those categories, we will replace them with product variants. The list of categories in which product variants will replace offer variants.
product variants will not replace offer variants. That means we will display product variants only in the offers where sellers do not have offer variants. If a seller lists multi-variant offers in those categories, nothing will change for them. We will display those offers as usual. The list of categories in which product variants will replace offer variants.
There may be several reasons why we do not display your offer:
- your offer with the red variant of the product is not linked to the Product Catalog
- your offer is linked to the product from the Catalog, but the product is in another category with no product variants available
- your offer is linked to the product from the Catalog but its obligatory parameters are not completed.
