The rules for creating new products in the Allegro Product Catalog
We ensure data quality and prevent violations of sales transparency in the Allegro Product Catalog. You can create a new product in the Catalog only for unique, distinct items.
Each product in the Allegro Product Catalog represents a unique, individual item — such as a single Coca-Cola bottle, or a specific smartphone model. If you cannot find an item that matches the one you want to sell — you can add it to the Catalog. You can do that only in accordance with specified rules. Thanks to that, we avoid product duplicates and ensure the integrity and high quality of data in the Catalog.
If you link your offer to an existing product, it must perfectly match the product data from the Allegro Product Catalog. When compared to the product from the Catalog, the offer must not include:
- a larger number of the same items — to do that, list a product set
- additional items — to do that, create an offer bundle
- a smaller number of items.
Apart from that, if you sell an incomplete element of the original product (for example, the product is unpacked and the wrapping foil is torn), list it with a condition other than New.
When to create a new product
You can create a new product if it has not been added to the Allegro Product Catalog yet.
The product you create should not include a set of the same products or be a multiple of the same product. Exceptions to this rule: product sets, sets created by the manufacturer, and multi-item products that provide customers with a specific value. We describe the latter two exceptions below.
A product that is a set created by the manufacturer in its original packaging
The brand or manufacturer is responsible for the product selection and packaging of the set. Thanks to that, we can be sure that the offer in which you sell a specific multi-item product complies with the law and the manufacturer's specifications — also, that there are no items that you selected or repacked.
Sets created by the manufacturer are standardized. The manufacturer ensures that the original packaging is suitable for transportation and storage in the warehouse. This guarantees that customers receive the set in a specific, predefined configuration rather than, for example, loosely packed products.
Products from a set created by the manufacturer often have their own official GTIN (EAN) numbers. Customers know them from the market as individual products. That is why we accept them as individual products in the Allegro Product Catalog. However, do not assemble them into an unofficial set. Do not create duplicates of such products from the Catalog. You will make it more difficult for the customers to find and compare linked offers and make listing them more complicated for other sellers.
A multi-item product, the purchase of which gives customers an additional unique value (Special offers/Personalization)
Such a product is often presented as a gift box for special occasions or a personalized set. Here, we consider carefully selected offers that are more attractive to customers than regular linked items. These can be, for example: a set with an engraved pen and a notebook in a decorative box, or a gift box for a baby shower with carefully selected items.
Such a combination must give customers meaningful additional value — such as being intended for a special occasion or offering personalization options. That is why multi-item products can be added as separate products in the Allegro Product Catalog.
The manufacturer is responsible for the selection of items in a multi-item product — as a seller, you cannot add more products yourself.
When you cannot add a new product to the Catalog
The product already exists in the Allegro Product Catalog. In this case, link your offer to an existing product.
If you think the product you want to link your offer to has incorrect product data — use the Report incorrect product information form. See how it works. This refers to any combination or multipack of products assembled by you, rather than the manufacturer. It includes unofficial multipacks or multi-item products assembled by you out of single items. For example: You list 4 individual or repacked bottles of mineral water as a new product in the Catalog, instead of listing a product set that we would mark as a Set of 4 units.
A freebie or a gift is included with the main item. The Allegro Product Catalog should contain only representatives of specific products. Thanks to that, other sellers can link their offers to such products. If you want to offer your customers free items or gifts, you can mention that, for example, in the description.
Your aim is to circumvent the Allegro Terms & Conditions or the rules of fair competition. For example: instead of listing product sets or creating offer bundles, you create product duplicates in the Catalog.
A product does not meet the specific criteria for sets created by the manufacturer, official transportation/storage packaging criteria, or the added-value criteria described above (special occasion/personalization).
How to sell multiple items using products from the Allegro Product Catalog
You can list a product set or create an offer bundle.
Product sets: when you list a multiple of the same item
With a product set, you can list an individual offer that consists of more items than a product from the Allegro Product Catalog it is linked to. Learn more.
Offer bundle: when you link various offers for a discount
With offer bundle, you can group 2 or more individual, existing offers into one purchase option — often with a discount. Unlike product sets which represent individual offers, offer bundles are a group of separate offers presented together for a joint purchase. If you want, you can add a discount for purchasing the entire set. Learn more.
Check the summary of the most important rules
- Give priority to products that already exist in the Catalog: Always search for offers and link them to products that are already available in the Catalog. Only when you do not find them, consider creating a new product.
- Use product sets for multi-item offers: It is the right and recommended option when you sell multiple units of the same item (multipacks).
- Use offer bundles for individual promotions: Use this option to group existing separate offers to offer a discount. Thanks to the offer bundles, you can inspire customers and encourage them to make larger purchases.
- You can only create new products in specific cases: You can add a new product to the Catalog only when it does not exist in the Catalog yet, it is a set in an original transportation/warehouse packaging created by a manufacturer, or it adds unique value. This rule does not apply to the free extras or gifts.
- You cannot add new products to the Catalog only to circumvent our rules.
- Check the excluded categories: In the selected categories, you can list more than 1 product in an offer. You will find a detailed and up-to-date list of these categories in the Help article.
We can extend the rules with more cases — for example, those typical for the chosen category or those resulting from market regulations. Stay up to date with the Help articles and follow our News.
What if you think we made a mistake
If you think we removed a product from the Allegro Product Catalog incorrectly, and it was an official set created by a manufacturer, contact us via the contact form. Provide all materials that justify your submission — for example, a picture of an official branded packaging. We will process your submission as soon as possible.
We reserve the right to decide whether a new product creation is necessary in the Allegro Product Catalog.
