Rules for offer descriptions
What are the rules for offer listing and description
The descriptions of the offers listed on Allegro should follow platform rules.
On Allegro, there are specific regulations and restrictions that apply when listing offers and creating their descriptions. They are included in the Allegro Terms & Conditions . You can find the detailed explanations of individual issues below.
First of all, you must remember about the binding nature of an offer. When you list an offer on Allegro, you agree to sell the listed item at the agreed price to the person who wins an auction or makes a purchase using the Kup teraz (Buy Now) option .
You cannot cancel purchase offers (with some exceptions ), and you cannot sell goods outside of Allegro .
Rules you should know before listing offers
- the description should only concern the item that you sell in the offer
- the description cannot be used for communication between the website's customers, nor can it have the nature of a classified (except for offers in the classifieds category ) or advertisement (it cannot contain proposals to buy or exchange the item)
- the description cannot contain any contact information, such as: a phone number, email address, payment information, or a bank account number
- the description cannot contain false, unverified or misleading information
- the brand and other information about the origin of the product and its producer, which are included in the description, must be complete and accurate
- the description cannot directly violate applicable law or suggest a method of using the product that infringes the law or is unethical,
- the offer should be placed in the appropriate category
- keywords that may affect search results are not allowed in the product description.

How to check if the offer description is compliant with the rules
In order to help you create a proper offer description, we have launched a special tool that takes care of the quality of your descriptions. The tool is based on a list of defined phrases and operates in real time. If you enter a phrase that is against the rules while listing an offer ― we will underline it in yellow immediately.
See the examples
Example 1In the offer description, you provide contact details or encourage customers to buy from you — it is against our rules. Therefore, the tool will underline that information.
When you hover over the underlined phrase, you will see additional information and a hint on what you should correct.
You cannot list the offer if you do not make the suggested changes and leave the description in its original form. When you click [list and accept the conditions], you will see a message. It will tell you what to change in the offer description to list the offer.
You will not list an offer if you try to list a product whose sales on Allegro is forbidden. If you provide the name of such a product in the title field, you will see a message. It will tell you why you cannot sell this product.
If you click [list item] anyway, you will see another message. It will inform you that you cannot list an offer with this product.
The legal basis
As stipulated in Section 8 (2) of our Terms & Conditions, we have the right to refuse to publish certain offers.
What a good offer description should include
A good description should include, among others: a good title, comprehensive information on the subject (characteristics) of the item, clear product images, various forms of payment and delivery, information on return conditions.
- Become an expert on your assortment and learn all you can about your products. List products that you trust are the best ― those about which you know all you need to answer any buyers’ questions. This way you will avoid misunderstandings and increase chances that the buyer will be satisfied with their purchase.
- Observe and analyze buyers’ behavior. If buyers often ask one specific question, update the offer description or expand your assortment.
- Make sure all the information is located in relevant tabs on the offer page (for example: Parameters, Offer Description, Warranty, Complaints, Returns, About the Seller). Thanks to that, the buyer may easily find the information they need.
- An offer title and description, photos, a category, offer content, and parameters create a coherent whole. They should not contain contradictory information. An offer description should be coherent and precise, and it should not be misleading. The more precise the offer description is, the easier it is for the buyer to find. This way you can also avoid misunderstandings concerning the transaction.
- In the offer, inform the buyer how much time they have to pay and when the parcel is to be dispatched. Do not ask the buyer to contact you before placing an order to check the product availability. According to the Allegro Terms & Conditions, if you sell an item, you need to honor the sales agreement concluded with the buyer.
- Pay attention to the location. In this field, provide the place from which you dispatch parcels, not the address associated with your account. If you ship parcels from abroad or let buyers pick up their order in person, you need to provide a real dispatch or pick-up location.
- Offer description and photos must meet our requirements (available only in Polish). A proper main photo helps you get a better position on the offer list.
- In the photos, present an offered item against a white background. Do not include any additional elements, watermarks, your login, or other texts.
- If your item is available in more than one color, show just one of them in the main photo. Other colors can be presented in other photos in the offer description.
- Include only the product information in the offer description. Make sure it is thorough and true to life. Do not copy descriptions from other offers, as it is illegal and will probably get noticed. A copied description makes your offer drop on the offer lists ― so it might attract fewer buyers.
- Include unique elements in the description to make your offer stand out. Think about what may attract buyers specifically to your offer and add it to the description.
- Do not replace the offer description with an infographic. Google cannot read the text in the picture. This is an easy way to lose traffic from the search engine.
- Do not include words or phrases (names, brands, models) not related to the item you offer in the description. It is misleading and makes it harder for the buyers to find what they are looking for. Consequently, a misled buyer may return such an order.
- An offer description should relate to a specific product or service. Do not mention products that you do not sell on Allegro. An offer description should not contain ads or classifieds, either. According to our rules, you cannot suggest the buyer:
- negotiate the price
- order the product by phone,
- contact you before buying,
- check product availability,
- ask for a discount.
The above suggests a possibility to conclude a purchase outside Allegro, which is prohibited and disadvantageous both for the buyer and the seller. Placing an order outside Allegro means the buyer is no longer protected (for example, by the Buyer Protection Program) and cannot leave you a review.
- Do not include URLs to websites that are commercial in nature. You can include links to external websites if it helps explain what the product is ― for example, by linking to technical specifications or additional photos of the product. Note that this is allowed only if you do not sell through this website nor does it include links to other commercial websites.
- If in the description you include a link to a product video presentation on YouTube, check if the video description or the video itself does not contain URLs of online stores. If it does, linking to it would violate our Terms & Conditions.
Under the Polish law, if you are an entrepreneur, you are obliged to inform your customers about terms of returns and filing complaints. For this reason, provide clear and coherent information in the Returns and Complaints tabs. Make sure your rules are in line with the applicable legislation.
If your terms of returns or complaints are incomplete or noncompliant with the law, it may discourage the buyers from placing an order. Such offers may be removed after our verification, too.
If you can, offer replacing an item and describe the rules of doing so. Then, buyers will be more eager to buy from you.
Learn more about the entrepreneur’s obligation to provide the consumer with information.
If you sell multiple variants of an item:
- list them in separate offers. In the offer title, description, and parameters, provide information about a specific variant (such as size). Later, you can combine offers with many variants of the same item into a multi-variant offer.
- in the offer title do not include phrases that may make it harder to find a specific variant or are misleading as to what is offered.
- if you offer multiple variants of the same product, you can inform buyers about their availability in other offers.
- in one offer you can list items with different designs, for example dotted, striped, and checkered mugs, as long as they do not differ by shape. Items with different forms or properties (for example, taste or smell) should be listed separately.
How to create a good offer title
For a title to be effective, it should only concern the item listed and contain up to 75 characters. Add keywords at the beginning of the title.
Find relevant keywords to help determine the offer subject as well as you can. Keywords are words or phrases that describe the offer subject as accurately as possible. When you create an offer title, put the keywords at the beginning.
To make a title effective, it should concern only the item listed and contain up to 75 characters.
Good offer titles
- Samsung Galaxy S5 16 GB biały (Samsung Galaxy S5 16 GB white)
- Rower holenderka miejski damski 28’’ (dutch bicycle urban for a woman 28’’)
- Kask Shark motocyklowy otwarty (Shark motorcycle helmet open-face)
- Kombinezon Berik motocyklowy dwuczęściowy (Berik motorcycle two-piece suit)
Bad offer titles
- Tylko u nas Najtaniej !! moto Kask Shark open face (Only with us The cheapest !! Shark moto helmet open face)
- ZOBACZ_TO kombinezon motor Berik modny (MUST_SEE Berik motor suit trendy)
Forbidden practices
- repeating keywords
- including information about price reductions in the title — for example, "tanio" (cheap), "najtaniej" (the cheapest deal), etc.
- using trendy phrases that do not correspond to a listed product
- using words and phrases such as "polecam" (I recommend), "zobacz koniecznie!" (must see!), "nowość" (new), "promocja" (discount), "hit"
- adding extra information in the title, such as your username, city where the personal pick-up is possible, invoice information, or fast dispatch information
- putting warehouse numbers or your internal product IDs in the title ― they are unclear for buyers
- putting special characters in the title (such as @, !, [ ]) as ornamentals ― you can use them if, for example, the brand name contains those characters or if you want to determine a size (for example, [38]).
Doing so will lower your position in the Google search results, as Google combats the practices listed above.
If you comply with the standards described above, buyers will find your offer through the search engine more easily, as they look for specific items, for example by entering the brand name. Nobody enters phrases like “a fantastic thing” or “must see!” in their search queries.
Rules for placing links and website URLs in the offer description
Placing links in titles and descriptions of offers is subject to certain rules. First of all, you cannot provide links to websites that allow any sale of a given product outside Allegro.
Placing links in the offer title and description is subject to specific rules.
Links outside Allegro
You can link to other websites only if doing so broadens the knowledge about the item (for example, there are more images or a more detailed description).
Examples of permitted links
- links to the furniture assembly manual as long as it does not contain other links or contact details
- links to websites with images of the item (as long as those websites do not conduct sales).
Examples of illegal links
- links to websites enabling any form of sales outside Allegro, especially online stores and other e-commerce platforms (including ones with classifieds)
- links to websites not related to the sold item. Exceptions: selling domains, online platforms, advertising space on websites, and the like.
Unclear item description
When creating an offer description, pay attention to clarity - if the buyer will know what is actually the subject of the sale.
Each item description on Allegro should be as precise as possible. It should also be written in such a way that does not mislead the buyer. Consequently, the item specification and description should be exhaustive.
It is prohibited to manipulate the text to raise buyers’ doubts as to what is being offered and what the item features and parameters are.
Example of an unclear item description
"Mango śliczna bluzka marki Zara” (Mango pretty shirt Zara brand) ― this title is incorrect because it does not clearly specify what brand the shirt is. Additionally, it constitutes keyword manipulation (learn more).
If you choose the New parameter when the offered item is used ― you violate our Terms & Conditions. Check the definitions of the condition parameter values.
As the item location you should provide the place where the item is (from which it is dispatched). For international shipping ― specify the place from where the item is dispatched. If you allow buyers to pick up their orders in person ― provide the location where they can do it.
