How to meet the requirements of the PPWR
See how we help you sell on Allegro in line with regulations regarding packaging.
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) comes into effect on August 12. The new guidelines on production, use, and recycling of packaging aim to reduce its negative impact on the environment.
We will adjust some features on our platform to help you run your business on Allegro in compliance with European law.
See if you have manufacturer status
It will be mandatory for you to complete the relevant data in the Sales Center if you have packaging manufacturer status. Many factors decide whether someone is a manufacturer — you may be categorized as such even if you just import and distribute products, and do not consider yourself a manufacturer in the usual understanding.
According to the new regulations, you may be considered a manufacturer if you:
- pack products at, for example, your store or warehouse — you use packaging, and you are the first one to sell them to customers in your country
- sell packaged products under your own brand — you outsource production and packaging, but you place the product on the market yourself
- import products in packaging — you import packaged products from abroad and are the first to sell them on your domestic market
- sell products abroad — you dispatch products in packaging directly to customers in an EU country other than the one in which you have your company's registered office
- unpack products bought in bulk before selling them to end customers.
What this means for you
To sell in compliance with the law:
- provide us with your EPR registration number, a separate one for each country to which you dispatch your products. Enter it as the PPWR number (EPR PPWR / BDO)
- accept the declaration of conformity of packaging with EU requirements
in the Account Details tab. See how to do that.
How we help you
We used the PPWR guidelines as a basis to create the Allegro Packaging Standard — recommendations that will help you secure your parcels and prepare your company for new EU regulations even better.
