On January 1, 2025, VAT rates in Slovakia will change
Check the details of the changes and prepare your offers for them.
What will change in Slovak VAT rates on January 1, 2025
- The current standard VAT rate of 20% will be raised to 23%.
- The reduced VAT rate of 10% will be removed.
- A new VAT rate of 19% will be introduced. It will apply, among others, to:
- food items, except for those subject to the reduced VAT rate of 5%
- non-alcoholic beverages.
- The scope of goods subject to the reduced VAT rate of 5% will change. From the new year, that rate will apply to:
- certain food items, such as natural honey or fruit and vegetable juices
- certain medical and pharmaceutical products, including products for persons with disabilities
- printed books, magazines, newspapers, and e-books.
What it means for sellers from the European Union
If your registered office or fixed establishment is located in the European Union, you do not have to change the Slovak VAT rates ― we will not need that information for e-commerce VAT settlements.
If you are a registered VAT payer in Slovakia or use VAT OSS in your country, make sure you adjust the VAT rates in your settlements.
What it means for sellers from outside the EU (including the UK)
The current Slovak VAT rates that you declare in your offers for the purpose of e-Commerce VAT settlements, will only apply until December 31, 2024. After that date, you need to update them in your offers. If you fail to do that, we will settle e-commerce VAT for your transactions according to the new standard VAT rate of 23%.
What about automatic offer relisting
Regardless of where your registered office or fixed establishment is — from January 1, 2025, we will not automatically relist the offers where you have declared the current Slovak VAT rates, if you fail to update those rates. This also applies to your offers in One Fulfillment by Allegro. We will not relist them automatically, even if we accept your products at the Allegro Warehouse.
How to set VAT rates in your offers
- Go to the My Assortment tab.
- Click the three dots next to the selected offer and click [edit].

How to check the VAT rates in the offers you share on allegro.sk
You can do it using filters in the My Assortment tab. There, you can check in which offers you have set the reduced VAT rates, currently 10% and 5%, and in which offers you have set the standard VAT rate — currently 20%. Select the market — Slovakia (allegro.sk) filter and then VAT rate (Slovakia).
