Why we are doing it
We want to make sure that the information you provide in this parameter is correct — and has no repetitions, numbers of substitutes, or additional words. This way, buyers will be able to look up the products they need more easily. They will also see information that is not misleading.
What you can do
You can edit your offers now, and provide a value that does not exceed 25 characters in the Catalog number of the part parameter. It will allow you to better prepare for the upcoming change.
What if you do not edit the parameter values
On July 1, we will remove part of the values for the Catalog number of the part parameter in your offers — by shortening them to 25 characters. We will do that to avoid deleting single numbers or parts of words.
If you enter a value in this parameter that exceeds 25 characters (including spaces), we will shorten it to the last space before the 25th character.
See examples
Example 1: In the Catalog number of the part parameter, you enter a 25-character value: 1234567891011121314151617. We will not make any changes in your offers on July 1.
Example 2: In the Catalog number of the part parameter, you enter a 32-character value without spaces: 12345578912345678910123211231212. On July 1, we will remove the characters over the 25th. After that change, the parameter value will be: 1234557891234567891012321.
Example 3: In the Catalog number of the part parameter, you enter a 36-character value with spaces: 12345 57891 23456 78910 123211231212. On July 1, we will remove all characters up to the last space before the 25th character. After that change, the parameter value will be: 12345 57891 23456 78910.
