How we create a product name
Learn what we take into account while creating a product name and how you can change it.
In the Allegro Product Catalog, we want to gather and describe all products available on Allegro. This way buyers can find exactly what they are looking for more easily. We display it:
- on the product list
- in the Other offers of product section.
Why you should complete parameters correctly in your offers
In some categories, we create the product name based on the offer parameter values. If you complete parameters correctly, you have a tangible impact on the product name. This way, information in your offers will be more useful to buyers.
What we take into account while creating a product name
A good product name should:
- be written in lowercase
- be grammatically correct (for example, have proper conjugation)
- not contain punctuation marks or special characters
- not contain the EAN.
What the rules of creating a product name are
The full product name in the Allegro Product Catalog contains:
- fixed phrases related to the product category and the Type parameter — we display them at the beginning of the name in the Catalog. The phrases depend on the category a given product is listed in and/or the parameters' values.
We are introducing the Product Name catalog
We are working to make the offer title and product name consistent and clear for the buyers. Within the Product Name catalog, we gather information on the product names used on Allegro and check whether they accurately describe products. That way, we select the most applicable name for a given product. This means that we will not always create the product name based on the parameters.
We take into account whether the product names are:
- unique
- in line with the parameters, product description, and the Top Offer name
- understandable for buyers.
We will introduce the Product Name catalog gradually. Since June 6, 2024, we have been using it to create product names in the following categories:
- Health
- Business and Services
- Kids
- Beauty
- Supermarket
- Electronics
- Automotive
- Collections and Art
- Sports and Travel
- Home and Garden
- Fashion.
Currently, we do not use the Product Name catalog:
- for temporary products
- in the Culture and Entertainment category
- in the Advertising category
- in the Services category
- in charity offers.
How to change the product name
If you think that a product you want to link your offer to has an incorrect name — use the product change request form and suggest changing the parameter value. Check how to do that.
This way, you help us improve the quality of the Allegro Product Catalog — and you, too, can have an impact.
Remember to specify the incorrect parameters while submitting the request
