The General Product Safety Regulation: starting December 13, you will be obliged to inform buyers about the origin of the product
The new regulation requires you to provide information about the origin of your products. Check what it means for you.
On December 13, 2024, the EU's General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) will take effect. According to that regulation, the buyer must have access to information on who manufactured a given product. That is why, by December 13, we will give you the opportunity to provide additional information on the products you offer.
What it means for you
The change will affect you if you list products in specific categories.
If you list offers in categories that are not subject to the GPSR, you do not need to do anything.
The GPSR applies to products that are new, used, repaired, or refurbished. The regulation is applicable throughout the European Union — that means, it will affect you if you sell on allegro.pl, allegro.cz, allegro.sk, and allegro.hu.
What we will change
You can already:
- complete the product parameters that are important in view of the new EU's General Product Safety Regulation, for example, GTIN (EAN, manufacturer, brand, or manufacturer's code. We will mark some of them as obligatory from September 23.
- add information on the persons responsible for the conformity of a given product with the EU regulations.
In October:
- we will introduce additional fields where you will complete the manufacturer's data required under the GPSR: name, address, business seat, and attachments with information on product warnings.
On Friday, December 13:
- we will mark all fields and parameters related to the GPSR as obligatory. Complete them to be able to edit active offers, relist offers, or list new ones.
