Selecting an item from the list

Selecting an item from the list is a situation when the seller sells items that differ from each other in one offer. See the exceptions and examples.

You cannot list in one offer items from which the buyer needs to select a particular variant. It makes shopping more difficult for customers, but also allows you to avoid some listing fees.

If you sell items which differ in, for example, size — list a multivariant offer. Check how to do it.

Examples of offers in which the variant selection is permitted

  • Customized items, made to the buyer’s order. In such offers it is possible to select a parameter that depends on the buyer’s needs or likes. The selection cannot include other item features nor affect its price.

Example

You sell address labels. The buyer provides the contents to print on labels, and selects a background color or a font. However, the item price does not change because of it.

  • Services of making items to the buyer’s order. Differences in individual parameters of the items sold in this way cannot affect their price. Services whose prices are based on the selection of a parameter should be listed separately.

Example

You sew trousers to measure. If they cost the same regardless of the cut, style, or material, you can list them in one offer. If changing one parameter (for example, material) affects the price, list those services separately.

  • Aquarium and terrarium pets in the Aquarium Pets, and Terrarium Pets categories ― provided that in the description you do not differentiate specimens by species, size, gender, or other characteristics. You are obliged to update the number of sold specimens to be accurate and true at all times.

Example

You sell 10 fish of the same species. After getting orders, remove information and photos of specimens you have sold.

  • If you offer more than one unit of a given item (multi-item offers), you can offer the buyer a selection of colors or designs.

Example

In the multi-item offer you list 4 shirts: 3 yellow and 1 blue. When one of the colors is sold out, you must remove information and photos concerning the item versions you do not have in stock anymore.

You cannot suggest the buyer to contact you before placing an order to check for available colors or patterns.
