If you sell connected products or related services, starting September 12, 2025, your offers must contain information on how such devices and software process data.
This obligation arises from the EU Data Act.
What are connected products and related services?
Connected products -- These are devices that connect to other devices or networks to share data. These include smartphones, smartwatches and smart home appliances, such as thermostats, lighting or refrigerators.
Related services -- these are services directly related to connected products and affect their functionality, value, or usability. They are:
- mobile applications for device management, such as an application for controlling smart lighting
- Subscriptions that offer additional features for the device -- for example, a subscription to additional recipes for a connected cooking product.
How you can fulfill your information obligation
If you sell connected products or related services, you can fulfill your information obligation immediately.
In the menu, add a document that explains how the device or service processes information. This information should be provided by the manufacturer or distributor. You can check if the manufacturer has published them on the website or attached them to the product or service.
You can add documents as attachments:
- when issuing or editing an offer via the form
- via API .
What happens if you don't provide the required information in your offer?
After September 12, 2025, we will have the right to remove offers for which you do not fulfill the information duty. We will do it, for example, if a customer files a complaint that your offers lack information about how the product or software processes data.
