Payments from buyers from outside Poland
If a customer pays you in EUR, we will convert the payment into PLN and you will receive the payment in this currency.
Buyers from other countries than Poland can pay for their orders on allegro.pl in PLN or EUR. It depends on the currency they have set in their account preferences. If the buyer chooses to pay in EUR, they will do it with a VISA or MasterCard card or through PayPal.
How to check if the buyer has paid in EUR
The information about which currency the buyer paid in is irrelevant, so you will not find it in any tab. You always get payments in PLN. Their amount is the exact price determined in the offer.
Buyer may ask you about the payment in EUR or send you a payment confirmation where you can see that the payment was made in EUR. In those cases, you will know that the buyer paid in EUR.
How the payment in EUR works
Payments from buyers from abroad are almost identical with payments from Polish buyers.
Example
You list an item for 80 PLN with international delivery for 20 PLN. Buyers from outside Poland see this price in EUR — it is an equivalent of your price, just expressed in a different currency. The buyer buys from you and pays you in EUR. The payment operator converts the payment to PLN. Consequently, you get the payment in this currency.
How we calculate currency exchange rates
The payment operator converts amounts from PLN into the currency selected by the buyer (EUR) according to the current exchange rate. The operator regularly updates the available and applicable exchange rates.
You do not need to have a bank account in a different country to sell your products abroad.
How to refund the buyer who paid in EUR
If the buyer from abroad resigns from the purchase (cancels an order or returns an item), you refund them in PLN, just like you would refund the buyer who originally paid in PLN. The payment operator converts the refund according to the exchange rate from the day of the original payment. As a result, the buyer gets the same amount they originally paid in EUR.
The buyer is refunded through the same payment method they used to pay you. For example, if they have paid with the payment card, they will get the refund to the payment card, too.
Example
You list an item for 200 PLN. A customer buys it and pays 45 EUR — according to the exchange rate applicable on the payment day. The payment operator converts the amount to PLN — you get 200 PLN. When you refund the buyer, you return them 200 PLN, and the operator converts that to EUR, according to the exchange rate from the day of the original payment. This way, the buyer gets refunded 45 EUR.
The invoice for a buyer from abroad
A buyer from abroad may ask you for an invoice — just like a buyer from Poland. All they need to do is click I want to receive an invoice in the delivery and payment form.
The buyer will get an invoice in a language and with a currency you use in the document. That is why the buyer who paid in EUR may get an invoice in Polish, with prices in PLN. Learn more.
