How to properly calculate delivery costs for offers with different shipping price lists
If a customer buys in several of your offers with different delivery price lists, by combining delivery costs you can automatically calculate the final delivery cost.
You can enable different shipping price lists in your offers. When you do that, set the cost calculation method. It will allow us to calculate the delivery cost automatically.
How we calculate delivery costs for different price lists
If the buyer orders products in several of your offers where you have:
- the same price list, or different price lists with the same delivery options or settings, such as price, number of units in the parcel, and the maximum parcel weight — we will add up the quantity in all offers. We will calculate the delivery cost as if the purchase is related to one offer only.
- price lists with the same delivery option but different settings — we will calculate the delivery cost and the number of labels for the order according to the method you selected for combining price lists
- price lists without the same delivery option — the buyer will be able to enter their custom cost manually. In that case, they should discuss it with you in advance.
Example
The customer buys from you in 2 offers. In both of them, you have price lists with the same delivery option — Allegro DPD Courier. However, in the price lists, other settings differ, for example:
- the maximum number of units per parcel
- the fee for each subsequent unit in the parcel
- the maximum weight.
That means we will calculate the delivery cost and the number of labels for the order according to the method you selected for combining price lists.
How to set the method of calculating delivery costs
- Go to the Delivery Settings tab.
- Click [edit] in the Delivery costs for the buyer section.
- Select one of the available cost calculation methods. You can select:
- the most expensive delivery — the buyer will pay the amount for delivery that we calculate based on the price list with the highest delivery cost. In addition, according to that price list and the offers in which it is added, we will generate the number of labels for the whole order.
- the cheapest delivery — the buyer will pay the amount for delivery that we calculate based on the price list with the lowest delivery cost. In addition, according to that price list and the offers in which it is added, we will generate the number of labels for the whole order.
- the sum of deliveries — we will dispatch the orders from individual offers in separate parcels and the buyer will pay for each of them.
Example
The customer buys from you in 3 different offers with 3 different price lists. Each price list contains the same delivery option but with different settings such as price, the maximum number of units in the parcel, and the maximum parcel weight.
In that case, we automatically compare all the price lists:
- price list number 1 (the first offer) — the customer bought 2 units, the maximum number of units in the parcel is 2, and the parcel cost is 12 PLN. We generate 1 label. The delivery cost is 12 PLN.
- price list number 2 (the second offer) — the customer bought 3 units, the maximum number of units in the parcel is 8, and the parcel cost is 14 PLN. We generate 1 label. The delivery cost is 14 PLN.
- price list number 3 (the third offer) — the customer bought 4 units, the maximum number of units in the parcel is 2, and the parcel cost is 14 PLN. We generate 2 labels. The delivery cost is 28 PLN.
We automatically compare costs from all the price lists and select only one of them, according to your settings. We do not take into consideration your other price lists.
- If, according to your settings, the customer should pay the highest delivery cost, we will automatically select the price list number 3. In that case, the customer will pay 28 PLN and you will generate 2 labels for the whole order.
- If, according to your settings, the customer should pay the lowest delivery cost, we will automatically select the price list number 1. In that case, the customer will pay 12 PLN and you will generate 1 label for the whole order.
- If you select the option to sum the deliveries, we will settle each offer separately. In that case, the customer will pay 54 PLN, and 4 labels will be assigned to that order.
No matter which method you choose, you can also enable the buyer to enter the delivery cost manually — after they have discussed it with you. The buyer will be able to enter the delivery cost while making the purchase — in the delivery and payment form.
If you want, you can enable free delivery in your offers. Learn more.
- Click [save]. Done!
If you also sell in the foreign marketplaces — set the delivery cost calculation method for a given marketplace. You can provide the free delivery amounts in the applicable currency.
Additional information
- If you use one price list in all offers, you do not need to select the delivery cost calculation method.
- If you do not select the method of calculating delivery costs, buyers will, by default, pay for the most expensive delivery while making a purchase in your offers with various shipping price lists.
- If the only common delivery method in your price lists is personal pick-up from the seller, the buyer will be able to enter the delivery cost agreed with you manually, regardless of the settings in your price lists.
