From September, we will require additional information in some offers
Learn more about the new duty and check whether it will apply to you.
If you sell connected products or related services, starting September 12, 2025, your offers must contain information on how such devices and software process data.
This is a duty that stems from the EU's Data Act.
What the connected products and related services are
Connected products — they are devices that connect to other devices or networks to share data, such as smartphones, smart watches, and smart home appliances like thermostats, lighting, or refrigerators.
Related services — they are services directly related to connected products and affect their functioning, value, or usability. Those are:
- mobile apps for managing the device, for example, an app for controlling smart lighting
- subscriptions that offer additional features for a device — for example, a subscription for additional recipes for a connected product for cooking.
How you can fulfill your information duty
If you sell connected products or related services, you can make sure you fulfill your information duty right now.
Add a document explaining how a given device or service processes information in the offer. The manufacturer or distributor should provide that information. You can check whether the manufacturer published it on the website or attached it to the product or service.
You can add documents as attachments:
- when listing or editing an offer through the form
- through the API.
What happens if you fail to provide the required information in your offer
After September 12, 2025, we will have the right to remove offers for which you do not fulfill the information duty. We will do it, for example, if a customer files a complaint that your offers lack information about how the product or software processes data.
